Imlack McEwan is a Scottish artist based in Edinburgh. His work is often process led and he has a very ‘hands on’ approach to natural and man-made materials. He uses a range of craft techniques to produce installations and sculptures, which are often placed incongruously in open air spaces and in the public domain. Pattern and shape within the urban and rural environments are a significant feature throughout his work. His work tends to be evolutionary or organic in that how it begins does not necessarily reflect how it will end. Essentially large scale pieces, which are constructed in the gallery space, in large-scale, room-sized installations and sculptures.
